ABOUT OUR PRESCHOOL MINISTRY

Our Preschool Ministry

The preschool and children’s ministry of First Baptist Church is based on Luke 2:52, which says, "And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and with people." From this verse, we provide opportunities to grow through Bible Study classes for all ages, fellowship, and programs for childhood development through a Biblical worldview. Some of our programs include: Bible study, kids worship, weekday learning programs, Awana, Vacation Bible School, camps, and preteen ministry.

Sundays

8:30AM

Childcare during the 8:30 AM service is for children ages birth to kindergarten.

9:45 AM

Sunday School Classes for all ages

11:00 AM

During our 11 AM service, we offer Extended Teaching Care (ETC) for babies through kindergarten. ETC is designed to encourage play, build relationships, and teach foundational truths about the Lord in a safe and caring environment.

After check-in, babies through age 3 remain in their rooms to play while leaders gently incorporate simple truths such as “Jesus loves you” and “God made you” through songs and interaction.

Children ages 4 and 5 participate in Preschool Worship, where they gather to sing songs, receive an offering, and hear a Bible lesson. They then return to their classrooms for playtime and may also complete a simple craft that reinforces the day’s lesson.

Wednesdays

Wednesdays

Children’s Choir:

This is a time when children begin learning what worship is and why we worship. Throughout the semester, choir participants work toward both a Christmas program and an end-of-year worship program.

This class is open to children ages 4–5 and meets on Wednesdays at 5:00 PM.

AWANA

Children ages 2–3 participate in Puggles, where they learn four foundational Bible truths: God made everything, God is great, God loves us, and we give thanks.

Children ages 3–5 participate in Cubbies, which encourages preschoolers to understand core truths about God, Jesus, and salvation in a fun, age-appropriate environment.

Both programs meet on Wednesdays at 6:00 PM.

Weekday Programs

Our weekday programs provide a safe, caring, and Christ-centered environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive. Through Wee School and Creative Kids, we offer preschoolers opportunities to develop academically, socially, creatively, and spiritually while building a strong foundation for the future.

Whether preparing for kindergarten or enjoying a fun and engaging Mother’s Day Out experience, each child is encouraged to grow in confidence, creativity, and their understanding of God’s love.

GOT A QUESTION?

FAQ

We take the safety of children at First Baptist Church very seriously. When you arrive at the Children’s Building, you will check in at one of our Check-In Stations. You will receive two labels: one with your child’s information to place on them, and a matching parent tag with a unique number. At pickup, these numbers are checked to ensure your child is released only to the person with the matching tag.

In addition, every adult serving with minors is required to complete a background check and Sexual Abuse Awareness Training before volunteering.

When you register your child, you provide an emergency contact number. If we ever need to reach you regarding your child, we will use the information provided on their check-in label and contact you immediately using the emergency number on file.

Yes, we provide a snack for our preschoolers, typically crackers and water. On occasion, older preschool classes may have a special snack provided by teachers. Parents will always be informed in advance of any changes, and all allergies are carefully taken into consideration.

If you are interested in serving in the Preschool Ministry at First Baptist Church of Morristown, we would love to connect with you. You can begin by completing our serving interest questionnaire. Once submitted, someone from our team will reach out with next steps. You may also contact the church office and ask to speak with someone in the Children’s Ministry Department for more information on serving opportunities.
