Children's Ministry

YOUR FIRST VISIT

New Here?

The children’s ministry of First Baptist Church is based on Luke 2:52, which says, "And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and with people." From this verse, we provide opportunities to grow through Bible Study classes for all ages, fellowship, and programs for childhood development through a Biblical worldview.

SUNDAYS

SUNDAYS

At FBC Kids, Sunday School begins at 9:45 AM with a large group gathering focused on learning the memory verse for the day. Children then break into grade-level groups for a deeper time of discipleship centered on the Bible lesson and memory verse.

Kid’s Church is a service designed specifically for 1st–6th graders. This time focuses on teaching the purpose of worship, fellowship, and offering through a focused large group Bible study. It helps lay a foundation for what it means to gather together to worship, grow, and serve the Lord.

WEDNESDAYS

Children’s Choir

This is a time when we begin teaching what worship is and why we worship. Throughout the semester, choir participants work toward both a Christmas program and an end-of-the-year worship program.

AWANA

This is a focused time of discipleship centered on Bible memorization and large group games that encourage fellowship. FBC Kids offers two tracks for 3rd–6th graders to memorize Scripture: the traditional Truth and Training (Awana) program or Bible Drill.

Events

FBC Kids hosts events throughout the year that focus on discipleship and evangelism, including Vacation Bible School, Day Camp, and Junior Camp. We also offer family-focused events such as the 4th of July Celebration, Family Campout, and Fall Festival.

At these family events, the emphasis is on families coming together to fellowship and connect with other families in the church community.

PreTeen Ministry

The Bridge is our preteen ministry designed for 5th and 6th graders. During the Sunday School hour, students engage in focused discipleship through fellowship and Bible study.

Students are also encouraged to grow deeper in their relationship with the Lord and learn what it means to serve as leaders in the church through Kid’s Church and AWANA on Wednesday nights. Throughout the year, they participate in age-specific events such as Preteen Retreat in the fall and Saturday Night Alive in the winter.

The Bridge serves as just that—a bridge—helping students grow in their faith now while preparing them for the next stage of life in student ministry.

GOT A QUESTIONS?

FAQ

We take the safety of children at First Baptist Church very seriously. When you arrive at the Children’s Building, you will check in at one of our Check-In Stations. You will receive two labels: one with your child’s information to place on them, and a matching parent tag with a unique number. At pickup, these numbers are checked to ensure your child is released only to the person with the matching tag.

In addition, every adult serving with minors is required to complete a background check and Sexual Abuse Awareness Training before volunteering.

When you register your child, you provide an emergency contact number. If we ever need to reach you regarding your child, we will use the information provided on their check-in label and contact you immediately using the emergency number on file.

Yes, we provide a snack for our preschoolers, typically crackers and water. On occasion, older preschool classes may have a special snack provided by teachers. Parents will always be informed in advance of any changes, and all allergies are carefully taken into consideration.

IIf you are interested in serving in the Preschool Ministry at First Baptist Church of Morristown, we would love to connect with you. You can begin by completing our serving interest questionnaire. Once submitted, someone from our team will reach out with next steps. You may also contact the church office and ask to speak with someone in the Children’s Ministry Department for more information on serving opportunities.
